Great photos--perceptive observations--as usual. Thanks--you always present your curiosity in the most amazing style that makes me think about topics that I probably wouldn't otherwise think about.
Thank you, Kathy! That’s so good to hear. I always especially having written them in the future. Look forward to catching up soon. Let me know when the next MOCA show is happening.
I love the images! I have never had the chance to visit Budapest, but it was always on my wish list. It's so interesting that you described it as very quiet.
Interesting view on Budapest. My parents went there numerous times with their Hungarian friends. It is on my list, but has changed a lot since their visits.
I was there briefly 20-odd years ago on an interrailing trip, but all I remember from that time is playing pool in a hostel. Would be curious to see how it has changed
We may swing by Budapest this summer on a road trip. We’ve not been. A part of me is a bit hesitant due to the authoritarian nature of the government. Thanks for giving us a glimpse of the city from your perspective.
If it is good enough for characters from Moby Dick, it is good enough for minor intellectuals. Seriously, it is a good starting point: full of books, quiet, and coffee and beer.

It may just be off-season (or the quiet neighbourhood) but well worth a visit.

Definitely worth taking a risk!
No intellectual worthy of the name would wish for a chain of cafés dedicated to them 🙄

The Széchenyi Baths are incredible! Fun fact: Roger Scruton lectured me in philosophy.
No way! Have you written about Scruton? What was he like?
He was an absolutely brilliant lecturer but had distinctly fascist leanings. This was at Birkbeck College in the 1990s.
I haven't written much, here's a couple of things:

Fascinating. Thank you
That was a fascinating read and excellent photos. Thank you 👏
Thank you! Still a bit under the weather but happy to have posted something.
