Happy New Year Neil! I always appreciate your thoughtful approach to these online spaces. I enjoy Michael Pederson, planning to listen to Muckle Flugga this year, I love your portrait! And I'm keen to visit the Wellspring now, thanks for sharing your gadding about!
Great project. I don't know much Glasgow, having only been there a handful of times. But it always felt edgy and dangerous from Edinburgh (when I lived there). I'm dying to see your take on it.
Nice. Instagram gives me the boke, I only use it now to advertise Art Pilgrim. I like the idea of shorter posts that still have depth, I've been thinking about that too. A lot of substack essays are super-long and I think there's a place for something a bit different. Especially word and image together, we're lucky in that we can do that. My last one on the caves got more likes and views than ever before, though that could just be the boredom of the in-between Xmas and new year time...
Yes, I think he lack of an editor means writing isn’t as short as could be here. A friend mentioned that he has the same horror for Substack that he has for the trend for Long Reads a while back.
Happy New Year! I admire your dip and look forward to seeing your posts in 2026! The double exposure is very cleaver and effective. Nice!
Thanks Søren!
Happy New Year!!

Happy New Year, Debbie! Looking forward to hearing what you think about both the novel and the well!

Thanks Cedric! Edinburgh is indeed a lot tamer, increasingly so. Do you know Raymond Depardon’s photos?
Yes I've seen some of them. It didn't show Glasgow under it's best light :)
‘Photography is gone’ indeed.
It’s sad. And difficult to see how civilization will be saved from Idiocracy.
