I’m currently writing a wikipedia entry as a commission. It’s all news to me!

Fun! Who is it on?

A Glasgow-based fashion design company called Marion Donaldson. Ran from 1966 to 1999.

Good luck! What I would recommend is trying to get relevant links in from other Wikipedia pages. If there is a page on sixties fashion designers that might help establish notability. Otherwise, the editors tend to see it as promotion.

That’s a good shout Neil. I’m literally clueless about it. I’ve been looking at Biba and Mary Quant etc as it was on a par, believe it or not.

Unfortunately wikipedia is v bad with pre-internet figures. As long as you can find books and newspaper sources you should be ok.

The company was covered a lot in ye olde print media. It’s about getting newspaper library links I guess? Or a website with scans?

Now fallen down a wiki-hole. I’d never heard of a Glaswegian John Stephen, who created Carnaby Street!

Thanks. There was a PhD done recently on MD. Not published yet for various reasons.

This is so interesting, Neil!!! And I love it. ❤️

Thank you! Have you ever had a go?

Never! It's an interesting thought. I knew you can do that and I've wondered about people who should have one, but never attempted to do one myself.

Do it! It’s a strange world with its own laws, but works better if we all contribute.

Does it have to be either or, Neil?

As in, are you sure you can't blog AND edit Wikipedia?

You’re right they do serve different functions. I am just very conscious of only having so many hours in the day!
